STRAAT museum launches her new exhibition, The Essence, on April 10th. It’s all about diving into what drives graffiti - the names, tags, lines and repetition - as its own visual language. The show follows graffiti’s journey from the underground in New York City to a global movement that inspires modern art. To celebrate the opening, the legendary graffiti artist Bill Blast (Wise/William Cordero) will create new work, give an interview and sign blackbooks on April 11th.

Stichting NDSM-werf organizes special Art Tours along the artworks that can be found outside on the NDSM-werf. During this walk, you will hear more about the temporary artworks, the makers, and why they fit in at NDSM. The Art Tours is usually given by artist Su Tomesen and a special guest such as one of the artists. The first Art Tours by Su Tomesen will take place on April 19, 2026, with artist Bart Eysink Smeets.

On April 27, 2026, NDSM will turn orange again during the 14th edition of NDSM Vrijhaven. The city's largest children's free market is not just about selling, the NDSM wharf is also a place full of play and fun. Of course, children display their treasures: toys, books and unexpected finds. But you can also come up with an idiosyncratic activity and rent a market stall to bring it to life, such as: throwing cans, a mini performance or another playful idea that fits in a stall or just outside. For visitors, as usual, this means strolling through stalls, rugs and activities, where there is always something to do.

At the NDSM Kinderatelier, imagination takes centre stage. Children devise and create their own works using a wide range of leftover materials sourced from the artists’ studios on the wharf. Guided by these artists — who believe that every child is creative and can be encouraged to realise their ideas — they develop their projects from sketch to finished object. There is ample space to find solutions within the materials at hand, with the mentors actively supporting and contributing to the creative process.

In May, Stichting Tussen de Lakens launches the new theater performance Binnenstebuiten! From May 8 to 10, they will play in the Blokloods in Amsterdam. Inside out! is a humorous and accessible show about sex, exploring themes of sexuality and intimacy based on scientific insights.

From 14 May, Wish Me Well will be on view at the NDSM-werf. This temporary, seven-metre-high monument by artist Lara Schnitger rises at a prominent location by the ferry landing. The sculpture depicts a figure who embraces and defends feminist values, serving as a powerful beacon for emancipation in the public space. The official opening will take place on 13 May.

NORTH SIDE STORY by YoungGangers is a modern, musical reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet at the NDSM-werf in Amsterdam-Noord this summer. This outdoor spectacle is inspired by Shakespeare and West Side Story. The action musical, written by Jibbe Willems, is a mix of poetry, humour, sung confrontation, raw spectacle and slapstick.
