Trailer:

May 10 IN TUNE by Henk Schut - Stichting NDSM-werf
In the 25 years that Henk Schut has had his studio at the NDSM shipyard, he grew along with the transformation from a rugged artistic breeding ground to an area of homes, commercial projects and a dynamic mix of talents, where there was room for experimentation, art, collaboration and collective growth. In 2025, he will tell in a podcast how these changes left lasting traces and how his multidisciplinary practice — in which he conducts research and collaborates with specialists — makes the studio a space for experimentation, architecture and sound.

Podwalk:

May 11 Sense, register and how to discover messages: A method by | Twentyfivenineteen — Beautiful Distress
During this podwalk, visitors were introduced to Twentyfivenineteen's observation method, in which the public space of the NDSM-wharf served as a research field for sensory exercises that provided recordings in images and language, intended to activate the senses and discover messages. Twentyfivenineteen was a collaboration between Michelle de Vaan and Ilke van Deventer, who, through shared working methods and observations, built a project that would only be completed in 2519, where formed messages could independently evolve into an unknown outcome.

Podwalk:

May 31 & June 1, Bodem est Omen by Hannelore Havelaar - Over Het IJ
In Soil test Omen you were in the middle of an episode of Radio Dokwerk, a rebellious channel where Hannelore Havelaar investigated the stories about corrupt project developers, contaminated land and secret spaces under the NDSM shipyard, while the audience could walk freely around the site and experience music, poetry, debate and insider stories. Havelaar, an audiovisual theater maker who interwoven video, film, radio and documentaries with humor and narrative, allowed an inquisitive audience that searched and was rewarded themselves: those who dug well found answers.

Podwalk:

July 5 & 6 Art Whispers by Esther Kin- Treehouse
The NDSM shipyard invites you to wander and be inspired by art and creativity, such as during Esther Kin's tour where visitors were able to turn their own observations into a personal creative impulse. In her work, Kin investigates the interaction between emotion and movement and guides others in developing their own visual language to express meaningfully what affects them.

Podwalk:

August 16 & 17 A glimpse into the NDSM soul and zeitgeist by Rienke Enghardt - NDSM Fuse
For this NDSM Art Walk, Rienke Enghardt tells the story of the Shipbuilding Wharf and other key figures in the shipyard, where past, present and future come together in a walk based on Cadavre Exquis, a collective drawing game that results in surprising works of art. Since coming to the NDSM shipyard 25 years ago, Rienke has developed her practice and the mobile art project Hope Box here, and actively contributed to the Shipbuilding Shed and the construction of the Hope Box Home.

Podwalk:

September 20 & 21 | Floors by Lila Bullen-Smith, Megan Hadfield and Toni Brell - Stichting NDSM-werf
At this podwalk, you could explore the NDSM via an immersive, sensory audio walk in which sound, text, smell, taste and performance came together and fiction and reality were intertwined with the historical and socio-political layers of the place. The podwalk was created by Lila Bullen-Smith, Megan Hadfield, and Toni Brell, each exploring in their practice, how location, text, sound, and tactile experiences enable new ways of perception and understanding.

Podwalk:

October 4 & 11 Floating structures by Carlyn Westerink - Art City NDSM
Upon entering the NDSM Loods, the merger of the crude shipyard and the experimental art community is immediately felt, inviting visitors to explore new perspectives and curiously embrace the unknown. Visual artist Carlyn Westerink worked with watercolor and colored pencil to create layered, dreamy scenes that stimulate reflection and delay in the midst of this vibrant, historic space.
